10 ft. plus tomato plants

Again this year the tomato plants responded to the rain water only program. I am
5'9" and as you can see they dwarf me. This plant is a Celebrity. 2009 wasn't a great year for the early crop. However the late crop did very well. I am trying something new this year. I have cut my plants down to ground level and covered them with about 10 inches of hay. I am going to see if the root system can survive the winter. I will let you know how this turns out. I know it is a long shot.
